About us
A small Swiss import house with one specialisation: finding the best expressions of one coffee variety and getting them to the people who will appreciate them.
geisha-coffee.ch is operated by DR Import in Switzerland. We buy from producers, exporters and auction partners in Panama, Ethiopia and Colombia, and we sell to private collectors, roasters, hotels, restaurants and retailers in Switzerland, across Europe and further afield.
We chose to specialise rather than to carry a wide catalogue. Geisha is a demanding coffee to buy well: the name commands a premium, which attracts loose labelling, inflated scores and lots that were grown too low to deserve the price. Knowing one category properly is worth more to a buyer than knowing thirty superficially.
How we work
- We cup before we offer. If a lot does not taste like its description, it does not go on our list, whatever the paperwork says.
- We name the source. Farm, plot, altitude, harvest, process, score and grader, for every lot.
- We quote per lot. No list prices, because a list price for Geisha would be a fiction. Why.
- We say no. If Geisha is the wrong answer to your question — because of budget, volume or how the coffee will be served — we will tell you and suggest something else.
- We answer quickly. Same working day, in five languages.
What we are not
We are not a farm, and we do not claim relationships we do not have. We are not a high-volume commodity trader; if you need forty tonnes of arabica, we are the wrong people. And we are not going to tell you that a coffee is the best in the world because of a number in a press release. The auction results are real and they are interesting, but the coffee most of our clients enjoy comes from the tier below the headlines, chosen carefully.
