Geisha — Gesha in Ethiopia, where it comes from — is the variety that broke every price record in coffee. We find the lots, verify them, and bring them to buyers in Switzerland, Europe and beyond.
Geisha coffee is not simply expensive coffee. It is a distinct botanical variety of Coffea arabica, collected in the Gori Gesha forest of western Ethiopia in the 1930s, that behaves unlike anything else in the cup: jasmine and orange blossom on the nose, bergamot and stone fruit in the mouth, a tea-like body and a finish that lasts for minutes rather than seconds. Grown at the wrong altitude it is a thin, unremarkable coffee. Grown above 1,500 metres in volcanic soil, harvested cherry by cherry and processed with obsessive care, it is the reference point the whole speciality trade measures itself against.
We are a Swiss import house. We do not run a farm and we do not pretend to. What we do is know which estates are producing at the top of their form this season, which lots actually cup the way the score sheet claims, and how to get them to you — green in vacuum-packed boxes for a roastery, or roasted to your profile for a hotel, a restaurant or a private cellar.

Read moreWhy altitude decides everything
Geisha is a tall, sparse, low-yielding plant. It rewards cold nights and slow ripening, which is why the celebrated lots come from a narrow altitude band on the flanks of volcanoes. Below roughly 1,400 metres the cherries mature too fast and the aromatics never form; above 1,900 metres the plant struggles to produce at all. Everything the market pays for happens in between.

You tell us the brief
Volume, origin, process, the cup profile you want and whether you need green or roasted. If you are not sure, describe the customer instead and we will propose.
We check what exists
We contact producers, exporters and auction partners and come back with what is genuinely available from the current harvest, with scores and provenance.
You taste before you commit
For green coffee we send samples. For roasted orders above a certain size we roast a trial batch to your profile.
We handle import and delivery
Export documents, customs clearance into Switzerland or the EU, and delivery. You get one invoice and one point of contact.
Availability, not a price list
You will not find prices on this site, and that is deliberate. A Geisha lot has no standing price: it depends on the estate, the harvest year, the cupping score, the process, the quantity you take, and how much of it exists. A 92-point washed micro-lot and a 96-point auction lot from neighbouring farms can differ by a factor of fifty. Publishing a number would mean publishing a fiction. Here is what actually drives the price, and if you write to us with a volume and a quality target you will get a real figure for a real lot.
Common questions
Is Geisha coffee really the most expensive coffee in the world?
By auction price, yes. In August 2025 a 20 kg lot of washed Geisha from Hacienda La Esmeralda in Boquete, Panama sold for USD 30,204 per kilogram — the highest price ever paid for coffee at public auction. Everyday Geisha costs far less, but it remains the most expensive commercially traded coffee variety.
Is it spelled Geisha or Gesha?
Both are correct and both refer to the same variety. Gesha is closer to the Ethiopian place name it comes from; Geisha is the spelling that entered the trade through Panama and is still the one most people search for.
Can I buy a small quantity?
Yes. We supply from single retail bags up to full container allocations. Small quantities of exceptional lots are exactly what most private buyers want.
Do you ship outside Switzerland?
Yes — across the EU and worldwide. Duties and import rules differ by destination and we will tell you what applies before you order.
How do I know a lot is genuine?
Every lot we sell comes with its provenance file: producer, farm and plot, altitude, variety, process, harvest date and the cupping score with the name of the grader. If a seller cannot produce that, treat the coffee as unverified.
